Elon Musk’s Starlink applies for a license in Turkey, What to expect?
There is good news for people living in Turkey. Starlink, a satellite internet constellation operated by Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX, has officially applied to get a license in the Republic of Turkey.
This comes days after tech billionaire Elon Musk met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the United States on the sidelines of the UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) session.
Starlink applies for a license in Turkey
Starlink applied for a license to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), a national telecommunications regulatory and inspection authority of Turkey, on Friday.
Ömer Fatih Sayan, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, confirmed Elon Musk’s application to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority.

Ömer Fatih Sayan also wrote on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, “Starlink, which offers low Earth orbit satellite services, expressed their desire to operate in our country.”
On Monday, the stakeholders of the telecommunications sector will hold a meeting regarding the satellite services in Turkey.
What to expect from Elon Musk?
Elon Musk, the founder, chairman, chief executive and chief technology officer of SpaceX, met the Turkish President in New York, the US, on Sunday.
During the meeting, Erdoğan also urged the tech billionaire to establish a Tesla factory in the country. Musk also said that Tesla and SpaceX wished to work in Turkey. He also agreed to offer Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, to Turkish people.
Turkish people can expect Starlink in the country. After obtaining feedback from stakeholders on Monday, Elon Musk will be able to provide Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet service, to Turkish people.
On Sunday, the Turkish President said, “We discussed with Elon Musk both Tesla’s investment in the country and taking joint steps in space studies. I hope they will conduct a joint study with our friends.” They discussed future cooperation between SpaceX and Turkey’s space program.
The Turkish President arrived in the United States to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
