Hakan Fidan, Hamas Leaders Meet Again to Find Gaza War Solution

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with a Hamas delegation yesterday, according to a statement from the group.

This was their second meeting in just one week. Fidan and Mohammed Darwish, a member of Hamas’ leadership group (the Shura Council), first met in Ankara on April 20.

During the meeting, Darwish updated Fidan about the latest efforts to stop Israel’s attacks on Gaza. He also shared details from Hamas’ recent talks in Cairo.

Hamas leaders have been meeting with different countries to push forward a plan they shared with international mediators. Their plan calls for a full ceasefire, a prisoner exchange, more aid for Gaza, and rebuilding the area.

Fidan and the Hamas delegation also talked about the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. Israel’s ongoing siege is making it very hard for food and other aid to reach people in need.

According to the statement, Turkey is working hard to help end the war and provide support to Palestinians. Both sides agreed to stay in touch and continue working together to push for peace and relief efforts.
