Saudi Arabia’s technology sector is set to experience further advancements with the signing of an agreement between Dahua Technology and Alat, a company owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

As part of Dahua’s expansion plan in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the agreement follows the recent opening of an office and experience center in January. The partnership will focus on manufacturing Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) products specifically designed for smart cities and enterprises in the region.

AIoT combines artificial intelligence technologies with the Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure to optimize IoT operations, leading to improved human-machine interactions, enhanced data management, and advanced analytics.

The joint venture signifies a long-term commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and promoting economic growth, with the first product expected to be rolled out by the end of 2024, according to a press statement.

Gary Li, General Manager of Dahua MENA’s Saudi Arabia representative office, emphasized the alignment of the collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s goals of economic diversification and creating a brighter future. He highlighted the government’s focus on smart cities and large-scale projects, which presents an opportunity for Dahua to showcase their expertise in smart video solutions and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s journey towards a safer and smarter future.

The press statement also assured that Dahua’s Saudi Arabia subsidiary will continue to operate independently to ensure seamless service delivery to clients. The establishment of the joint venture will strengthen manufacturing capabilities in the region without compromising daily operations or branding strategies.

Initially, the joint venture will concentrate on manufacturing CCTV project-based products, with plans to expand into distribution products and other categories in the future. The joint venture’s manufacturing facility will streamline local supply chains, expediting product delivery for projects in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the wider region.

The sales model will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for local distributors, system integrators, and end-users. Clients across the region, including existing ones in Dubai and the rest of the UAE, can expect improved access to cutting-edge AIoT solutions tailored to their specific requirements.

Dahua Technology, headquartered in China and established in 2001, is a renowned manufacturer of video surveillance equipment. In February, Alat collaborated with Softbank Group and Carrier Corp. to accelerate sustainable manufacturing in Saudi Arabia.
