Harris Reaffirms U.S. Support for Ukraine, Unity Against Russia at Munich Conference

Speaking at the prestigious Munich Security Conference on Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She reaffirmed America’s staunch and unwavering dedication to supporting Ukraine economically, militarily, and politically in competition with Russian aggression.
U.S. Support for Ukraine
Harris was clear in her characterization of Russia’s actions, declaring that their unprovoked and unjustified attack on Ukraine threatens the very middle concepts of country-wide sovereignty and territorial integrity that underpin peace and protection across the world. She asserted that the US and its European allies will continue to offer a steady flow of army help and economic aid to Ukraine. They can even persist in systematically imposing heavy costs on Russia’s financial system through coordinated sanctions.
Unity Against Russia
Looking beyond the crisis in Ukraine, the Vice President referred to maintaining absolute allied unity in opposition to Russian aggression, arguing that team spirit amongst Western countries is prime to deterring destabilising actions by using Russia in the future. She said that the united front has sent a powerful message to enemies that the West’s solution is chronic and unwavering.
In addition, Harris touched on rising worries over China’s coercive moves within the Indo-Pacific, reaffirming America’s dedication to running alongside nearby allies and partners to uphold long-established global rules and norms that China threatens to undermine. She underscored America’s focus on peaceful cooperation and balance in the area.
