WHO and Alnowair Sign MoU to Support Universal Mental Health in Kuwait

Recently, the World Health Organization and Alnowair, a non-profit organization based in Kuwait, signed an MoU for the purposes of public health issues in Kuwait. The memorandum was signed on July 1, 2025 and pertains to mental health, universal health care , and community empowerment.
The intention of this collaboration is to prioritize mental health issues in Kuwait. WHO and Alnowair together will help design and implement programs to promote community health and well-being, as well as addressing substance use, and supporting people in building emotional resilience.
An important aspect of this agreement is supporting Kuwait’s overarching health plans through the implementation of community-based health programs that will provide more equitable and reliable access to affordable health care, particularly at the community level.
Youth and local communities will be engaged and important in linking all aspects of health and well-being through campaigns to promote awareness of the link between the health of the environment and the health of the public. Dr. Assad Hafeez, WHO’s representative in Kuwait, spoke to the MoU and said, “The signing of this MoU demonstrates the importance of mental health, youth engagement, and environmental sustainability in creating a healthy society.” Sheikha Intisar Salem Al Ali Al-Sabah, Founder and Chairwoman of Alnowair, noted that the initiative symbolizes a strong commitment to strengthening minds and creating brighter futures for Kuwait. This partnership is another reminder that true development starts with the health and well-being of our people and communities – and that, together, public health and positivity can make a difference.
