18,000 Syrians Return Home from Jordan Following Assad's Fall

Authorities of Jordan announced on Thursday that 18,000 Syrian people have returned to their homeland after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. On Thursday during an interview with state TV channel al-Mamlaka Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya revealed the figures of home returns people.

Of the 18,000 people, there are 2,300 refugees registered with the United Nations. Jordan has hosted around 1.3 million Syrians since the civil war began in 2011, with 650,000 officially registered with the UN.

This return to home comes after years of displacement in the Syrian conflict. A large number of people left Syria during the war and for those refugees, Jordan was not less than a second home. Jordan hosted millions of Syrian people fleeing because of war and instability.

Turkey has also reported a rise in Syrian returnees. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that over 25,000 Syrians have returned to their country.
