AUIB Hosts First Graduation Ceremony in Baghdad, Iraq

The American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) held its inaugural graduation ceremony, a landmark event for higher education in Iraq. Thirty-eight students received degrees in business, science, and humanities during the March 3 ceremony in the former Al-Faw Palace, the palace of Saddam Hussein, which was redesigned into an educational campus. The campus had gone from a place damaged by war to a state-of-the-art university campus.
AUIB was founded in 2021 by Iraqi businessman Saadi Saihood to create a culture of liberal arts education and international education partnership and collaboration. AUIB partners with top-tier global institutions to provide the best academic experience for our students.
Most of the graduates are already making strides forward in their lives, many of them starting elite postgraduate programs abroad. Others are starting their professional careers in Iraq’s evolving private sector. This first graduating class provides hope for a new generation of Iraqis representing resilience and progress.
