Innovation company Netaj  Launches Iraq’s First VC Studio to Support Startups

innovation company netaj launches iraq’s first vc studio to support startups

In a big move to boost innovation in the country, Iraq-based platform Netaj has announced the launch of the first venture capital (VC) studio in Iraq – Nawat – a startup studio designed to support early-stage Iraqi startups with hands-on support, funding, and access to a powerful network of entrepreneurs.

Nawat will serve as a studio that can take startups from an idea to a minimum viable product (MVP) and beyond. Nawat will partner directly with entrepreneurs and innovators and focus on sectors with unlimited, high-demand, and limited capacity for growth, including, among others, fintech, healthtech, and edtech. Startups will receive capital as well as strategic mentorship, operational support, and market access.

According to the CEO of Netaj, the VC studio is much more than a funding mechanism; Nawat is an engine that builds sustainable, investment-focused businesses that are competitive in the region and globally. The VC Studio plans to launch three to five startups every year in Iraq and to utilize technology to tackle challenges faced in Iraq. The inauguration of the VC studio, Nawat, is an important milestone in the growing start-up ecosystem in Iraq, and gives hope to a new generation of tech-oriented entrepreneurs in a region with no access to early-stage funds.
