Morocco to Launch $6 Billion Natural Gas Infrastructure Tender
Leila Benali the Moroccan Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development plans to release a $6 billion invitation for private sector projects to improve the nation’s natural gas facilities. Benali delivered this update at the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston.
A detailed $6 billion initiative will be developed on private funds to set up ports for LNG imports while building out gas pipelines and enhancing onshore and offshore gas production in Tendrara and Anchors. The Moroccan government emphasizes natural gas in their energy transition because they want to reach 52% renewable power generation by 2030.
Each year Morocco manufactures fewer than 100 million cubic meters of natural gas while taking in 1 billion cubic meters through its Spanish pipeline. The country moves forward with the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline plan to increase natural gas usage in its energy system. Business specialists expect several global energy businesses to participate in this calling for proposals despite missing tender particulars.
