Saudi Arabia And Other Arab Countries Outraged By Indian Official’s Remarks Against Prophet Muhammed
Saudi Arabia–The Arab world is angry with India over the Bharatiya Janata Party leader’s remark on Prophet Muhammad. #ArrestNupurSharma and #Stopinsulting_ProphetMuhammad hashtags are trending on Twitter in Saudi Arabia. #BoycottIndia is also trending in Arab countries on Twitter.
How did the chaos start?
The entire controversy started when BJP leader Nupur Sharma made inflammatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate on an Indian channel last week. Subsequently, protests against India started in Arab countries. The entire Muslim community was fuelled with anger after this statement, including Indian Muslims.
Indian Muslims also started blaming Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP party for spreading propaganda against Muslims. Subsequently, BJP had issued a circular saying that this was Sharma’s personal statement and that BJP has nothing to do with it. BJP also removed Nupur Sharma from the party.
