morocco plans f1 circuit near tangier

Eric Boullier’s efforts could soon make Morocco the first African country to host Formula 1 races. Because of his success with the French Grand Prix, Leronde was reached out to again by the organizers in December 2023 to see if the Moroccan Grand Prix could take place.

According to Boullier, the south Tangier area suits all the specifications needed for a Formula 1 track. The ambitious project aims to construct a place where people will enjoy entire motorsport events, including upscale hotels, impressive infrastructure, and a new airport just 15 kilometers away from the facility.

Strategic Development Vision

The idea is to create an independent tourism infrastructure that acts as a valuable asset for the country. He told reporters that the project may be risky, but it perfectly matches F1’s aspirations of increasing its appeal in Africa.

The dreams behind Project Cargo Snow cannot come to reality until some major problems are handled. To advance, the government must approve it, and significant investment funds and the final economic plan need to be secured next. Formal talks with Formula 1’s rights holders are allowed only after these important events occur.

The plan for the design is established, but it will still take experts’ knowledge to meet international standards. Should the proposal go ahead, finishing in three years would move Morocco ahead of other African countries as a Formula 1 host candidate.
