Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reach a deal after 8 years
Brad Pitt, 61, and Angelina Jolie, 49, used to be one of the most prominent pairings in the history of the US entertainment industry for 12 years. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and a judge in 2019 declared them divorced and single.
But splitting the assets and child custody needed to be separately settled. During the long fight, four of the couple’s six children became adults, negating the need for a custody agreement. Knox and Vivienne, both 16-year-old, are the only ones remaining minors.
Pitt and Jolie have reached a divorce settlement, her attorney said on Monday, bringing an apparent conclusion to a serious divorce. No court documents have been filed yet, and a judge needs to sign off on the agreement.
Jolie filed for divorce after alleging that Pitt had been abusive on a private jet flight. But authorities deemed that no action needed to be taken against him. In 2017, Pitt told GQ that he had had a drinking problem at the time of the plane incident, but had since become sober.
