Ending the first day of stoning, the pilgrims celebrate Eid Al-Adha
Saudi arabia–Hajj pilgrims started arriving at Makkah’s Grand Mosque early on Saturday morning to celebrate Tawaf Al-Ifadha, or Eid Al-Adha. Prior to that, they had shaved their heads, slaughtered animals, and stoned the Jamarat Al-Aqaba in honour of Eid-Al-Adha on the 10th day of Dul Hijjah. In a ritual representing the stoning of the devil, the pilgrims individually flung seven pebbles at the Jamarat Al-Aqaba wall.
For the benefit of pilgrims, Hajj authorities such as the emergency services of the Presidency of State Security, health professionals, civil defence, and Saudi Red Crescent Society teams are all present, as well as officials and volunteers from various government agencies.
According to the General Authority for Statistics, security services are also available to guarantee that traffic is kept to a minimum and to control the flow of the roughly 899,353 pilgrims that are at the holy sites to attend this year’s Hajj.
