“At least 50 people in Iran are infected every hour”, says Kianush Jahanpur

Quoting Iran’s health ministry spokesperson Kianush Jahanpur’s tweet, “Based on our information, in Iran every 10 minutes one person dies from the coronavirus and some 50 people become infected with the virus every hour in Iran”.

The nation is hard hit by COVID-19 but not yet absolutely lockdown to contain the cases as requested by many countries. The official body count rose to 149 on Thursday, The most massive one day rise since the crisis, recording how quickly the results of the pandemic were quickening in Iran.

With Nawrouz coming up the end of the week, a vast number of Iranians are going to overlook calls to self-quarantine and might travel to villages and towns for the annual celebration, the National reported.

On Thursday, as per data, more than 9,000 people have died globally, with over 200,000 infected cases reported.

The disease has infected and killed thousands of Iranians, and the administration has called the victims martyrs as it drafted in the military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps to aid the pandemic. 

As per critics, however, Tehran has also been blamed for attempting to hide the degree of the spread until it was too late, causing a rapid increase in cases until it was practically difficult to contain.
